HistoriaAberdeenshire Netball Club Faces Funding Pressure Amid Growing Interest
Newtonhill Netball Club, a community-focused club in Aberdeenshire, continues to grow by supporting over 100 women and girls in a town of just 3,000 residents, though it now faces escalating funding and volunteer shortages(uk.news.yahoo.com). The club has won local league titles and trained youth players who have progressed to Scotland’s youth squads(uk.news.yahoo.com). To meet financial challenges, the club has turned to online fundraising platforms such as easyfundraising, through which it has raised over £1,300 and recently secured an additional £500 boost after winning a competition sponsored by Sports Direct(uk.news.yahoo.com). The club hopes that increased visibility of netball—especially ahead of the Glasgow-based Commonwealth Games—will attract more volunteers and community support to sustain and expand its activities(uk.news.yahoo.com). While Aberdeen Nets awaits its next update, these regional developments highlight the growing momentum for netball across Aberdeenshire.
