Competitive British American Football turns 40 as BAFA’s summer pyramid rolls on
British American Football celebrated its 40th year of competitive play in April 2025, a milestone underscoring the sport’s sustained growth across Great Britain [4].The British American Football Association remains the national governing body, overseeing contact and flag disciplines, national competitions and representative teams across the United Kingdom [2].Domestically, the club ladder runs through the BAFA National Leagues: a summer-season setup built on regional conferences, promotion and relegation between tiers, and a championship finale at BritBowl [1].For fans in Scotland, that framework sets the rhythm of the calendar—regional slates, playoff paths and a road that ultimately points to BritBowl—while BAFA’s national feed continues to carry Hall of Fame notes and wider programme updates through the year [1][3].
