Genesee Rapids set for NYCBL summer in Houghton, blending baseball and community mission
A summer staple in Houghton, the Genesee Rapids field college players in the wood‑bat New York Collegiate Baseball League and play their home dates on campus facilities in town. [2]The club was awarded an NYCBL franchise and launched the following summer, pitched as a warm‑weather draw for the village and its baseball fans. [1]Alongside player development, the program emphasizes a faith‑based, community‑minded mission, sharing devotional resources and mentorship as part of the summer experience. [3]Schedules, roster moves, game updates and rainouts run through the team’s official site and active social channels on Facebook, X and Instagram. [2][4][5][6]With regional foes rotating through on a compact summer slate, the Rapids aim to keep Houghton buzzing once the first pitch flies each summer. [2]
