MLB’s Rays purchase USL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies, linking two Tampa Bay clubs
The Tampa Bay Rays have purchased the Tampa Bay Rowdies, bringing the USL Championship club into the same organization as the region’s MLB team and formalizing a cross-sport link in Tampa Bay’s pro scene [1].The move connects two flagship teams in the market and aligns the MLB club with the USL Championship side’s operations and ambitions in the region [1]. The Rowdies continue to feature across league channels as the season rolls on [2].On the pitch, recent fixtures have included meetings with Eastern rivals Charleston Battery and Louisville City, with extended highlights from both clashes available for supporters to revisit [3][4].
