A recent rule discussion indicates that some local leagues are considering a change to the “runner leaves early” rule in 10U Cal Ripken play, moving from a return-play scenario to declaring the runner out on a delayed dead ball. The proposed adjustment would simplify enforcement in lower divisions, though it has not been approved at the national level for the 2026 season. UMAC Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball may see local adoption of this change, depending on regional policies and umpire directives.
