Scalzi Park Courts Near Completion Amid Renovation
Scalzi Park in Stamford is approaching the final stages of its racquet sports renovation project. The initiative encompasses the replacement of 12 aging asphalt tennis courts with ten USTA-standard post‑tension concrete tennis courts and six new pickleball courts. Additional upgrades include enhanced lighting, fencing, digital controls, upgraded bleachers, landscaping, and storage facilities. The project carries a total cost of approximately $2.66 million and is expected to be completed by June 2026. Club members and park users, including those organizing through local chat groups, remain active in informal play despite occasional closures during progress. The renovations are positioned to significantly enhance playability and user experience for both tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.
