Vail Rebels close in on SBCL title after win over Speedway Gamblers
Tucson’s summer club kept the chase alive, as the Vail Rebels — also known locally as the Tucson Rebels — moved within one win of the Sun Belt Collegiate League title after knocking off the Speedway Gamblers in the league’s title series [2]. The Rebels represent Tucson in the SBCL each summer, carrying the city’s banner in the collegiate circuit [1][2].The pedigree is there: the Rebels captured the SBCL crown in 2021 and are back in the mix again this season, leaning on a group that has turned Tucson into a summer-league fixture [2][3].Their slate has included regional opponents such as the Kings, a familiar matchup on the SBCL calendar [5].With momentum on their side, the Rebels now stand a win away from sealing the series and bringing another SBCL trophy back to Tucson [2].
