PričaUSW Launches Brain Health Study Featuring Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu Athletes
The University of Warwick Jiu Jitsu Club is situated in a broader UK martial arts community currently advancing safety research: the University of South Wales has initiated a pioneering study into the long‑term brain health of athletes across combat sports, including Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu. The project, backed by Tatami Fightwear, will assess brain performance, blood biomarkers and cerebral blood flow among practitioners, non‑combat controls and athletes in striking and grappling disciplines. The research could establish data-driven safety guidelines for martial arts and inform regulation—efforts that may impact training practices at institutions such as the University of Warwick Jiu Jitsu Club.
