PričaHistoric Velo Club Raffaele Marcoli A.S.D. – Turbigo Closes After Over 50 Years
The Velo Club Raffaele Marcoli A.S.D. – Turbigo has concluded its activities after more than five decades in operation. Founded in 1966, the club gained prominence in Lombardy through its development of young cyclists, becoming the third-largest road cycling youth society in the region and leading in mountain biking disciplines. Its president, Alberto Gambaro, cited the lack of generational turnover and the impact of the COVID‑19 pandemic, with the last youth activity held in 2019, as pivotal in the decision to cease operations. Gambaro issued a call for younger enthusiasts to revive the club’s legacy and help restore its sporting tradition. The club’s closure marks the end of a significant chapter in local cycling history.
