Girls Take the Field League Sees Championship Victory
Girls Take the Field, the all‑girls flag football league operated in Bloomfield Hills under SNAPtivities, concluded its most recent outdoor season with a championship-winning team drawn from across metro Detroit. Coached by Zafar Shamoon, the team comprised girls who had not previously played together and represented diverse backgrounds. Their cohesion was credited by Shamoon as a key factor in securing the league title. The league, founded by Genevieve Caffelli in 2020, continues to expand; recent seasons host more than 350 girls per session, amounting to around 700 participants annually. Girls Take the Field remains Michigan’s pioneering all‑girls flag football initiative and part of the NFL Flag network.
