Petersburg Generals Legacy Highlighted Amid City Sports Facility Upgrades
The Petersburg Generals, a former summer collegiate baseball team in the Coastal Plain League, remain a noted part of local sports history, having competed at the Petersburg Sports Complex from 2000 until 2016 (baseball-reference.com). While the Generals have not played in recent years, baseball and softball continue to thrive at the facility, which features one baseball diamond and four softball fields and serves as a venue for community and scholastic competition (petersburgva.gov). These amenities support local athletics and preserve the heritage of the Petersburg Generals by maintaining the sports infrastructure that once hosted the team.
