Sachem Little League Faces Theft of Equipment at Smith Field
Local authorities are investigating after seven aluminum bleachers were stolen from the Sachem Little League complex at Smith Field in Ronkonkoma. Each bleacher, weighing approximately 300 pounds, was valued at nearly $10,000. The Sachem Youth Athletic Group’s Commissioner, Bob Cummings, confirmed the significant loss and noted that the club lacks funds to replace the equipment. Suffolk County police traced a trail of broken bleacher parts leading to a neighbor’s fence, though no evidence was recovered from the property. Officials are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑220‑TIPS.
