White Sox to Distribute Pope-Themed Hats at August 11 Game
The Chicago White Sox Baseball Club will distribute pope-themed hats to all fans attending the August 11 game against the Cincinnati Reds, expanding what had been a limited promotional giveaway. The hats, shaped like the Pope’s miter and featuring the team’s sock logo, were initially reserved for theme-night ticket holders but will now be available to the full crowd. The club cited strong fan interest as the reason for widening access to the item. The promotion honors Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native and noted longtime supporter of the team. The club made the announcement via a team release.
