HistóriaLes Élans de Jonquière Shows Growth in Participation Amid Regional Winter Sports Developments
The club, JON - Les Élans de Jonquière, has experienced notable expansion in its speed skating program, growing from just three skaters post-pandemic to a roster of 12 for the 2023–24 season, along with a nearly full youth skating school offering and equipment rental program that supports newcomers to the sport (lereveil.com). In parallel, the Jonquière region is progressing in its winter sports infrastructure, with the construction of a BLEU BLANC BOUGE refrigerated outdoor rink underway at the Patro de Jonquière. Funded by Rio Tinto and the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, the project represents a $1.9 million investment and is due for completion in fall 2026 (theingot.ca).
