HistóriaTroppauer EV Opava Highlighted in Local Hockey Heritage
The Troppauer EV club, historically linked to modern-day Opava, was originally founded in 1908 under the name Troppauer EV, marking the early origins of ice hockey in the region. The club notably competed as a German Association champion and played significant matches in the early 1930s, including facing LTC Praha in an unofficial Czechoslovak championship in 1931. The legacy of Troppauer EV remains a foundational chapter in Opava’s sporting history. Today, the region remains active in ice hockey through HC Slezan Opava, which currently competes in the Czech Republic’s third-tier Second National Hockey League and is coached by Aleš Tomášek. The club continues to operate from Zimní stadion Opava and maintains its red-and-white identity in regional competition.
