Chesapeake Baseball Post 280 Wins American Legion World Series
Chesapeake Baseball’s Post 280 team claimed its first American Legion World Series championship on August 20, 2025, delivering Virginia its second title in the history of the tournament. In the final, the team shut out League City Post 554 with a 5–0 victory. Right-hander Charlie Hogan, starting for Chesapeake, held the opposition to four hits over 6 1/3 innings, fanning five batters while navigating around a recent shoulder issue. Reliever Ty Woods secured the final outs with ease. Offensively, Chesapeake struck early and added insurance runs through key contributions by Reid Vandergrift and a late three‑run sixth inning highlighted by Jack Bonney’s two‑run homer and a solo shot from Trey Campos.
