Chesapeake blanks Northeast 11-0 to clinch region crown at home
Chesapeake left no doubt in the region final, routing rival Northeast 11-0 at Chesapeake High to punch its ticket deeper into the MPSSAA playoffs [1][2].The Cougars jumped on the Eagles early, plating four runs in the first inning and six more in the second to build an 11-0 cushion by the end of the second. Chesapeake finished with 12 hits and played clean behind its pitchers with no errors [1].Sowers dealt four scoreless frames, scattering two hits with four strikeouts and one walk, and Bailey followed with a shutout inning in relief to close it out [1]. At the plate, Watts starred out of the No. 7 spot with a 3-for-3 day and multiple RBIs, August added two hits, and Adams led the way defensively with seven chances handled. For Northeast, Chase McLaughlin registered two hits [1].The victory delivers the region championship to the Cougars and extends a postseason run built on early offense and crisp defense [1].
