Episcopal High School Enhances Football Field Lighting Ahead of FIFA Training Role
Episcopal High School in Alexandria has secured approval to install high‑intensity lights ranging from approximately 40 to 100 feet tall on its athletic fields, including the football field, practice field, and Hummel Bowl. The enhancements are intended to support evening training activities as the campus prepares to serve as a training site for a team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. City Council approved the plan with conditions, including a five‑year permit, annual updates to the Seminary Hill Association, and a nightly lights‑out policy by 10 p.m. The addition of lighting is expected to improve usability of the football field and other facilities for both the training team and local athletes. The fields, especially the football field, will benefit from extended hours of use under proper illumination.
