Hartfield Country Club Addresses Summer Turf Challenges
Hartfield Country Club reported on current course conditions in its January 2026 Course Report, citing stressed greens due to extreme heat and strong easterly winds that accelerate drying. Staff have resorted to hand‑watering to mitigate turf wilting, particularly on bent grass greens prone to heat stress. A Poacure herbicide program has reduced winter grass (Poa annua) but left thin, pitted areas now scheduled for plugging and top‑dressing outside the summer heat. The club has also identified insect activity (cutworm and Argentine stem weevil) and disease outbreaks including fairy ring, brown patch, and possible anthracnose or pythium, with irrigation audits underway following staff departures that impacted system knowledge retention
