Houston World Cup Legacy Boosts Youth Soccer Access in Harris County
Harris County Youth Football is delighted to share exciting news for our fans: the Houston World Cup host committee has launched the Freekicks Soccer initiative to refurbish or build 23 full-size soccer fields across six Harris County parks—from Blue Ridge Park to George Bush Park—and award approximately $1.5 million in soccer scholarships to underserved youth players (houstonchronicle.com). While this isn’t club-specific news just yet, it directly benefits our community by expanding field access and creating more scholarship opportunities for aspiring players in Harris County Youth Football. We’re proud to be part of a region where growing the game means more opportunities on and off the field for our youth—and we can’t wait to see the impact this initiative will have on our future stars.
