Southern Illinois University’s softball team returned home this weekend to host Valparaiso in the Missouri Valley Conference opener, marking a notable matchup involving Right Approach Performance’s local region. The series began with a doubleheader on Friday, followed by one game on Saturday, at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Illinois. SIU entered the weekend with an 11–9 overall record after a strong showing at the Lipscomb Purple and Gold Challenge, while Valparaiso led the MVC in batting average and total hits entering conference action. The matchup provided a key test for both programs as the conference season commenced. Right Approach Performance’s athletes in the Valparaiso area may draw interest from such regional collegiate competition.
