Tuckahoe Sports Training Center Implements Solar Array to Reduce Operating Costs
Tuckahoe Sports Inc’s training facility in Henrico County has significantly reduced its operating expenses through a newly installed solar panel system. The Tuckahoe Sports Training Center now features a 209‑kilowatt solar array with 376 panels installed at no upfront cost through Dominion Energy Solutions. This system cuts the facility’s electricity rate from approximately 17 cents to about 9 cents per kilowatt-hour, translating to an estimated $6,600 in savings in the first year and potentially $550,000 over the duration of the agreement. The club’s leadership described the initiative as a vital strategy for long-term sustainability. The club, which has served the community since 2009, continues its commitment to youth athletics while managing costs effectively.
