City SC Carlsbad U14 Wins SoCal State Cup
City SC Carlsbad’s U14 Gold team captured the Southern California State Cup title with a 2‑1 victory over Irvine Slammers in the final held February 28 at Silverlakes Sports Complex in Norco. The club’s first boys’ State Cup win in nearly a decade, the team took an early lead through Evan Escobedo’s long‑range strike, and secured the win when Caleb Lion scored off a corner with 15 minutes remaining. The team’s defense, anchored by goalkeeper Yusuf Tabet—who saved three penalties in the semifinal shootout—allowed just one goal in their previous three matches. The result reflects sustained growth within the club, where strong defensive performances underpinned success.
