Eugene Simpson Park Renovation Includes Major Upgrades to Football Field
The City of Alexandria has advanced substantial upgrades to the football (soccer) field at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park. As part of a broader renovation, the project includes the installation of synthetic turf at Big Simpson, regrading of natural turf at Little Simpson, and the construction of new bleachers, dugouts and storage facilities (alexandriava.gov). Construction began in August 2025, with the football field and adjacent areas slated for phased reopening beginning in August 2026 (alexandriava.gov).
