Flying Squirrels Charities Supports Youth Baseball in Richmond Area
Richmond Baseball Academy West operates within a region witnessing renewed momentum in youth baseball and softball. The Richmond Flying Squirrels Charities, in partnership with Gilbane, has completed renovations of baseball and softball facilities at eight Richmond Public Schools high schools, including Armstrong and Thomas Jefferson, delivering dugout fencing, roofs, benches, backstops and batting cages in time for the 2026 season (si.com). Concurrently, Richmond Public Schools launched its first-ever elementary school baseball league in spring 2026, featuring 120 players from eight Richmond schools and supported by the Flying Squirrels and the Metro Junior Baseball League under ‘Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities’ initiative (wtvr.com). Richmond Baseball Academy West continues operations amid this revitalized youth baseball landscape.
