Giro d’Italia Stage 17: Valgren Triumphs as Vingegaard Retains Lead
Michael Valgren (EF Education–EasyPost) secured a solo victory on Stage 17 of the Giro d’Italia, edging away from a late breakaway to cross the line first—his second win of the season and his maiden Grand Tour stage victory. Jonas Vingegaard (Visma‑Lease a Bike) rode safely with the peloton to maintain his overall lead, now holding a four‑minute advantage over Felix Gall in the general classification. German Jhonatan Narváez captured the intermediate sprint and assumed the points jersey, overtaking France’s Paul Magnier with a ten‑point margin. The 2026 edition continues to unfold under sweltering conditions and growing drama in the hunt for the Maglia Rosa.
