Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp Begin 2025 Season as Defending Champions
The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, fresh off capturing the 2024 Prospect League Championship, commenced their 2025 campaign as the defending title holders. The collegiate summer league team opened the season on the road against the Clinton LumberKings on May 27, returning home for their opener in Peru on May 30 at Schweickert Stadium (en.wikipedia.org). Schweickert Stadium, enhanced with a new grandstand and press box thanks to local philanthropic support, continues to serve as the team's home venue with free general admission provided through the city’s partnership (peru.il.us).
