Lander’s softball team secured a pair of victories over Newberry College in Greenwood in a home doubleheader Friday. In game one, Lander prevailed 5‑2 behind timely hitting and solid relief work, while game two saw the Bearcats rally from an early deficit to win 6‑3. The second game featured a standout performance from Isabella Santos, who went 3‑for‑4 with a home run and two runs scored, and Kara VonAchen’s two‑run double proved decisive. The wins improve Lander’s record to 8‑4 early in the season, while the Newberry team fell short in both contests despite opening an early lead in the follow‑up game. The results underscore Lander’s depth and resilience across both games.
