Mesa-Area Club Baseball & Softball Tournaments Gain Ground at Cactus Yards
Cactus fields continue to anchor youth and amateur baseball and softball activity in the region, most notably at the Cactus Yards complex in nearby Gilbert. The facility comprises eight regulation-sized baseball and softball fields, designed as replicas of major-league layouts, and remains a hub for tournament play and league events (hoperelentless.com). Meanwhile, Mesa's broader spring training ecosystem contributes significantly to Arizona’s baseball economy, with the 2023 Cactus League generating over $710 million in total economic impact—Mesa shares in this due to its vital role in hosting MLB spring training facilities (news.wpcarey.asu.edu). Together, these developments underscore the continued relevance of cactus fields within the baseball and softball landscape of Mesa and surrounding communities.
