Quad City Steamwheelers are Quad Cities' arena football franchise, not a soccer club
The Quad City Steamwheelers are the Quad Cities’ indoor/arena American football franchise, based in Moline, Illinois. Any reference to the Steamwheelers locally points to arena football, not soccer [1].The name carries weight from the AF2 days: the original Steamwheelers launched in 2000 and stormed the developmental Arena Football 2 league, winning back‑to‑back championships in the league’s first two seasons (2000 and 2001) [2].After a hiatus, the modern iteration returned in 2018 and now competes in the Indoor Football League, continuing the region’s indoor football tradition under the same proud banner [1].
