Shelby Post 82 finishes 2018 as state runner-up, falls 8–3 to Wilmington Post 10
Wilmington seized control early and stretched the margin with multi-run frames in the fourth and sixth, capitalizing on four Shelby errors in an 8–3 championship result [1]. Dylan Izzi opened for Post 82 (2 IP, 1 R) before Cameron Wallace, Colby Ferguson and Jacob Carter handled relief [1].The run capped a 31–4 season and marked the program’s 12th appearance in a state championship game; Shelby’s title years remain 1942, 1945, 1951, 1957, 1958, 2001 and 2014 [1]. Tournament action from the week also includes a matchup with Hope Mills available via KTC Broadcasting [2].
