Spokane Indians Split Recent Games Amid Early‐Season Inconsistencies
The Spokane Indians opened the 2026 High‑A Northwest League season with mixed results. On April 11, the club suffered an 11‑9 setback to the Hillsboro Hops, as a strong performance by starting pitcher Jackson Cox—who struck out eight over five innings—was undermined by a faltering bullpen that surrendered six runs in the final four innings (nationaltoday.com). A few days later, the team rebounded with a 5‑3 victory over the Vancouver Canadians in the series opener. Colorado Rockies prospect Brody Brecht delivered a solid start with six strikeouts over three innings, while Spokane native Stu Flesland added four effective relief innings. Offensively, Kelvin Hidalgo and Alan Espinal supplied key homers, including a three‑run shot from Espinal (nationaltoday.com).
