Town of Hempstead Advances Synthetic Turf Upgrades to Baseball and Softball Fields
The Town of Hempstead is proceeding with a major upgrade to its baseball field infrastructure, including conversion of the existing baseball field, practice field, and softball field at East Meadow High School to synthetic turf. The renovation includes replacement of chain-link backstops, dugouts, fencing, bleachers, scoreboards, addition of batting and bullpen areas, new concrete walks, and improved field lighting. Shrubs along the west side of the baseball field will be removed, and the western parking lot will be reduced by approximately 20 spaces to accommodate the improvements. The project is part of a comprehensive building and site enhancement initiative at the school. Baseball field upgrades are central to this effort. The improvements are expected to modernize athletics facilities within the Town of Hempstead. The information originates from the Town of Hempstead’s environmental notice dated January 21, 2026.
