Youth Baseball & Softball Access Expands in Jacksonville Community
In Jacksonville, local youth sports programming continues to evolve with expanded access to baseball and softball. The community-based “Diamond in the Rough” youth baseball camp has broadened its scope in 2026 to include softball, addressing participation gaps and reducing cost barriers for children and families. The program, organized by the Henry Brown Athletic Association and Diamond in the Rough founder Lashun Highsmith, offers free equipment, instruction, and meals to participants at Nip Sams Park, underlining an emphasis on affordability and early engagement in the sport. While Warning Track Sports, Jacksonville’s premier baseball and softball academy, was not the focus of recent coverage, this broader local initiative reflects a growing trend in accessible youth development opportunities in the region.
